Theindonesiatoday.com - Electronics distributor PT AGIS Tbk booked operating loss of Rp6.8 billion in the first quarter of 2011, soared 31% from the same period last year on squeezed margin.
AGIS reported sales revenue of Rp47.68 billion in Q1/11, increased 9.5% from the corresponding period last year, while cost of goods sold grew 17.6% from Q1/10. As a result, AGIS gross profit slashed to Rp1.89 billion from Rp4.6 billion in Q1/10.
The company's operating expenses declined 11% in the period, but that's not enough to cut its operating loss.
But the company enjoyed other income of Rp15.2 billion, which resulted in net profit of Rp1.19 billion in Q1/11 against net loss of Rp1.46 billion in Q1/10.
AGIS had total assets of Rp1.54 trillion as at March 31, 2011. The company, controlled by Jhony Kesuma, operates some electronics outlets in JAKARTA. (Theindonesiatoday.com)
