Theindonesiatoday.com - The government of Banyuwangi Regency in East Java has sent an official letter to PT Indo Multi Niaga (IMN), subsidiary of Intrepid Mines Ltd, asking for shareholding in the Tumpangpitu gold project.
“We have sent the letter to IMN on 30 October (2011) but we have yet to receive clear respond from the company,” Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas told Detiksurabaya.com recently.
The regent, which was supported by major political parties in the regency election, claimed he has secured approval from East Java Governor Soekarwo for the shareholding in Tumpangpitu. He said the ownership was not in a scheme of golden share but in what he called as 'territorial share'.
“The scheme is a win-win solution for both parties for a long-term investment. Both the people and government will get real profist,” the regent added. Unfortunately, the regent did not disclose further about the kind of territorial ownership.
Previously, the regent has argued IMN to give out minimum 15% interest as golden shares in the Tumpangpitu Gold Project to local government, but the regent has yet to create any Development Work Plan (RKP) for the intention. (bintang@theindonesiatoday.com)
