Theindonesiatoday.com - Plantation giant PT Astra Agro Lestari (AALI) Tbk, subsidiary of Astra International (ASII), seeks refinancing facility of US$100 million.
Santosa, director of AALI, said the company has a US$50 million facility from five banks led by Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ under a club deal in 2009. Members of the consortium are Bank OCBC-NISP and Standard Chartered Bank.
The facility will mature in June 2012. Anticipating possible acquisition, Astra Agro seeks financing facility of US$100 million. "We're in talks with some banks for new facilities," Santoso is quoted by Bisnis.com Sunday (Nov 20).
AALI has yet to withdraw the US$50 million because the facility functioned as cash reserves in case the company needs immediate funding.
AALI shares closed at Rp22,750 Friday (Nov 20), 18% below its peak late last year, but 37% above its lowest level this year. At Rp22,750, AALI has market capitalization of Rp35.8 trillion or about US$4 billion. (Theindonesiatoday.com)
