Theindonesiatoday.com - Altura Mining Ltd (ASX: AJM) expects initial coal production of Tabang coal project, South Kalimantan by early 2012. The mining approval issuance now being delayed to Q4 2011 due to forestry permit issues.
The production will be priced around US$100 per ton, with around US$65 per ton of cost. The company targets 500,000 – 700,000 tons per annum of production from the project.
The company is going to expand its resource base by acquisition or vend-in of nearby operations. Altura also said will expand the Tabalong’s infrastructure in the future.
Altura says now the mining approval from the government in order to process further application is expected in the fourth quarter 2011 due to forestry permitting delays. The company said previously the approval to be issued by early second quarter 2011.
Tabalong currently has a JORC compliant resource estimate of 13.4 million tons of thermal coal, consists of two mining licenses in the province of South Kalimantan. Currently both IUPs are granted for exploration purposes and Altura is seeking necessary approvals to have them granted for operation production status. (bintang@theindonesiatoday.com)
