Theindonesiatoday.com - Energy and mineral resources ministry expects investment of US$3.5 billion in coal and minerals sector this year or about 10% growth from last year.
"That would mean a growth of US$320 million from the realized investments in the previous year," said Bambang Setiawan, director general for coal and mineral at the ministry this week.
Bambang said the realized investment in coal and minerals for 2010 was US$3.18 billion, exclusive of investments made by coal and mineral concessions issued by local administrations.
The State non-tax revenue, including royalties, from coal and minerals reached Rp18.29 trillion last year or about US$2 billion, while tax revenue reached Rp48.04 trillion.
The ministry plans to compile investment data in the sector, especially for the licenses issued by local administrations. (ferdi@theindonesiatoday.com)
