Jatenergy CEO Phil Hodgson said in a statement made available to The Indonesia Today that it had become a coal producer after buying into an existing mining operation called Jongkang II in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.
"The deal comes after the company earlier this year made a strategic move to broaden its energy activities into coal after establishing biofuel production in Central Java, Indonesia," Jatenergy said.
Jatenergy has three other coal projects in Kalimantan. Both the Jongkang I and Atan Bara projects are awaiting the granting of production licences and are expected to quickly move to production. Cash flows from these ventures would be used to advance the development of the larger Katingan project in Central Kalimantan. (bintang@theindonesiatoday.com)
