Theindonesiatoday.com - The second largest tin producer in the world, PT Timah Tbk (TINS), stated it will no longer export its tin products to international market following pressures from local tin miner to stop exporting tins.

President Director Wachid Usman told Detikfinance.com that Timah will resume export tin if the price returned to US$23,000 per ton. However, Usman said the company will honor several contracts ending this year which counts for 8,000 tons.

The executive stated local tin miners have been disappointed by brokers and traders by lowering tin price in international market, reasoning to the European and US debt crisis. “It makes no sense. We can’t accept such reason to cut tin price,” Usman said.

In the first nine months of 2011, the company produced 28,165 tons of tins, jumped 14% from the same period of corresponding year.

PT Timah booked Rp6.82 trillion of revenues in the period. Out of total revenue, 17.5% of them was contributed by Mitsubishi Corporation Unimetals by Rp1.2 trillion. (bintang@theindonesiatoday.com)
