Resources

Theindonesiatoday.com - State utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to allocate Rp70 trillion as capital expenditure (capex) for this year for funding the establishment of power plants and network distribution, Koran Tempo reported.

Around Rp35,8 trillion will be funded by multilateral loans, Rp25 trillion raised from bond issuance, and the balance of Rp9.2 trillion will be funded by State Budget of 2011 Fiscal Year (APBN).

The power plant establishment will only have capacity of 598 megawatts (MW) this year, representing 52% from target of 1,150 MW. “The target will not be achieved as the 10,000MW program phase I is slowly progressed,” Director General of Electricity Jacobus Purnowo said.

Purnowo also added the transmission network establishment also slows, due to the problem in land clearing and the increase of construction cost. As a result, the fund disbursement only totaled US$4.9 billion or 63.5% from the target.

Previously, Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources said that 2010 electricity subsidy reached Rp62.8 trillion, or Rp7.7 trillion higher from the target of 2010 APBN Amendment. (bintang@theindonesiatoday.com)
