Cooper Energy, Monetizes Opportunities in Indonesia

SYDNEY, Indonesia Today - Cooper Energy Ltd is evaluating monetisation opportunities in Indonesian blocks, while 3D seismic survey in Sukananti KSO expects to be available during March 2012 quarter.

According to Cooper’s presentation material available to Indonesia Today, the Sukananti KSO production was 3,470 barrels in December 2011 quarter. The production reportedly stood stable at 150 barrels per day.

Cooper had acquired a 24 km2 3D seismic survey in November 2011 in the Sukananti KSO, South Sumatera and is currently being processed by PT Fugro Indonesia. “The data will be available for interpretation during March 2012 quarter” the company said recently.

Cooper also assessed it has ‘multiple opportunities’ in two Indonesian blocks and is ‘evaluating monetisation opportunities’ in Indonesia. Unfortunately, Cooper has yet to disclose further details.

Cooper Energy Ltd (Australia) has been awarded a contract by state oil and gas company PT Pertamina to operate and develop the Sukananti, Tangai, and Bunian oil fields (Sukananti KSO) in South Sumatra since late December 2011.

Cooper's program consists of a signature bonus of US$861,888m 24 Km2 of 3D seismic, a new development well, 3 well workovers and infrastructure updates with total cost over three years of around US$6.8 million. Cooper's JV partner (10% interest) in the project is PT Mega Adhyaksa Pratama.

Interestingly, Cooper has announced it plans to exit Indonesian blocks by mid-2012 as part of its capital efficiency programs. (ferdi@theindonesiatoday.com)
