PPATK Examines 2,000 Suspicious Transaction of Lawmakers

JAKARTA, Indonesia Today  - The Financial Transaction Analysis and Report Center (PPATK) examines around two thousands of suspicious transactions related to lawmakers.

PPATK revealed that in a hearing with the House Commission III (overseeing law and human rights affairs) Monday, Feb 20. PPATK said majority of the suspicious transactions were committed by members of the House Budget Body (Banggar).

“Now PPATK has been proceeding with more than 2,000 reports related to the lawmakers, where majority of the transactions were committed by Banggar members,” told PPATK chairman, Muhammad Yusuf to the House Commission III.

President SBY’s Demokrat Party lawmaker Benny K Harman, who is head of the House Commission III, asked for further explanation from PPATK about why PPATK had put its statement (about around 2000 suspicious transactions related to the lawmakers) with black highlighter.  A similar question was also raised by PKS lawmaker, Aboebakar.

Yusuf explained that the black highlighted means the examination over the suspicious transactions has not concluded yet. Yusuf also said that he had no idea of whether the number of the suspicious transactions would grow further or.

The report might confirm the House as one of the most corrupt institutions in the country. The Budget Committee is currently under the spotlight for various graft allegations, including abuse of power allegedly committed by Committee leaders Melchias Marcus Mekeng (Golkar lawmaker), Tamsil Linrung (PKS), Olly Dondokambey (PDI-P), and Mirwan Amir (Demokrat, President SBY's party).
