SBY Scolds Anas and Jafar for Angelina

JAKARTA, Indonesia Today - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, in his capacity as patron leader of Demokrat Party, scolded party chairman Anas Urbaningrum and Demokrat faction chairman in the House of Representatives (DPR) Jafar Hafsah for the aborted plan to move troubled lawmaker Angelina Sondakh to Law Commission of the House.

"SBY as patron leader was so angry on this," said Andi Mallarangeng, secretary of the party's council of supervisors.

According to Andi, right after hearing the plan to move Angelina to Law Commission, SBY immediately asked for cancellation. "That's not smart at all," Andi quoted SBY.

Jafar announced on Tuesday, February 14, the decision to move Angelina from House Commission X (overseeing sports, youth affairs) to House Commission III (overseeing law, human rights). The decision draws criticism from various parties, including the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), because Angelina is a graft suspect in the athlete dormitory project.

Following SBY's rejection, Demokrat then moved Angelina to House Commission VIII (overseeing religious affairs). In the words of Sutan Bhatoegana, deputy chairman of Demokrat Party faction, Angelina needs 'spiritual splash' with her new position. (Indonesia Today)
