Needs Spiritual Splash, Demokrat Moves Angelina to Religious Commission

JAKARTA, Indonesia Today - Demokrat Party has decided to transfer Angelina Sondakh, Demokrat party lawmaker and graft suspect, from Commission III of The House (overseeing law) to Commission VIII (overseeing religious) following criticism from various parties.

Sutan Bhatoegana, deputy of Demokrat Party faction, said that he has asked Jafar Hafsah, head of Demokrat party faction, to assign Angelina Sondakh in commission VIII of The House. According to Sutan, the decision was also taken to avoid any further damage to the party's image. Sutan also explained that the decision to chose commission VIII that overseeing religious issues for Angelina is in order to give her 'spiritual splash' in her current condition. “Commission VIII is a religious affairs commission. So...let her get a spiritual splash there,” said Sutan.

Demokrat Party has earlier surprised many with its decision to move graft suspect and lawmaker Angelina Sondakh from Commission X (overseeing education, culture, youth, sports, etc) to House Commission III, which oversees law and human rights affairs.

The Commission also supervises National Police and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which just named Angelina a suspect in the high-profile athlete dormitory graft case, which dragged former Demokrat treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin.

The decision draws criticism, including from Abraham Samad, chief of The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), who declared that he will not attend any meeting with Commission III of The House, which is a working partner of the anti-graft commission, if Angelina participates in the meeting.
