JAKARTA, Indonesia Today - Busyro Muqoddas, Deputy Chief of The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), admitted that there are political pressures toward KPK related to the athlete dormitory graft case implicating Muhammad Nazaruddin, former treasurer of Demokrat Party.
In an interview with Metro TV today, Busyro said that there are many parties committing political moves on the case.
He also criticized Akbar Faisal, lawmaker from Hanura Party, who earlier said that the athlete dormitory case had triggered conflicts between KPK Leaders.
Busyro underlined that there are no such conflict, and reminded that KPK is not affected by such political maneuver. “It’s a political statement and KPK is not buying it,” said Busyro.
Busyro has also criticized statements from executives of Demokrat Party who demanded clarity onparty chairman Anas Urbaningrum. According to Busyro, such statement was an attempt of Demokrat Party to throwing the responsibility of Anas status to KPK, while the party should have made its own decision.
Akbar Faisal has earlier claimed that he heard about the internal friction at KPK. “We were informed about the incident. We heard that two persons should have been named new suspect in the case, but Abraham didn't get support from Bambang and Busyro," said Akbar on Thursday (Jan 26)
Akbar’s statement was also confirmed by Ucok Sky Khadafi, coordinator of Indonesia Forum of Budget Transparency (FITRA). “We believe that now there is an internal friction and conflict of interests in KPK,” said Ucok as quoted by Tempo. (indra@theindonesiatoday.com)
