Govt Sets Remuneration Limits for Expats in Oil & Gas Sector

Theindonesiatoday.com - Indonesian government has set the limit of remuneration of expatriates working for oil and gas contractors in the country.

The limit is set by finance minister Agus Martowardojo through regulation PMK No. 258/PMK.011/2011 about Maximum Limit for Foreign Workers in the Production Sharing Contracts of Oil and Gas dated December 28, 2011, Bisnis Indonesia reported.

The remuneration package consists of salary, allowance, and other payments which calculated as cost recoverable (cost recovery).

The highest level (Level I) like president, country head, and general manager shall not bigger than US$562,000 per annum for those from Asia, Africa, and Middle East (Region I) and a maximum of US$1.546 million per annum for those from Europe, Australia, and South America (Region II).

Level II officers, senior vice president or vice president, shall not bigger than US$449,700 per annum for Region I and US$1.236 million for Region II.

Senior managers or managers, Level III, shall not bigger than US$359,000 per annum for Region I and US$989,200 per annum for Region II.

Professionals for special skills (Level IV) shall not bigger than US$287,000 for Region I and US$791,200 for Region II.

Payments above the limit set in the regulation will not be reimbursed by the State under the cost recovery mechanism. The regulation is effective January 1st, 2012. (Indonesia Today)
