Theindonesiatoday.com - Tire manufacturer PT Goodyear Indonesia Tbk has yet to resolve its decade-long legal battle against PT Banteng Pratama Rubber.
In the case, Banteng Pratama lodged a lawsuit to the Bogor District Court, claimed Goodyear to pay US$3.26 million over the use of the expired Goodyear trademark on bicycle tyres made by Banteng, filed initially in August 2002.
Both State Courts of Bogor and Bandung decided that this case should be resolved by the National Arbitration Board. However, no decision made yet up to date. “Management believes that the company has a solid legal basis to win this case,” the company said in annual report.
Established in 1978 and owned allegedly by a Chinese family, Banteng Pratama is specialized in rubber products such as tires and tubes for bicycle and motorcycle, tricycles, and tire and heavy duty rubber casters made under license of Lucky Stone, Seven Stars, and Mizzle.
