JAKARTA, Indonesia Today - Muhaimin Iskandar, minister of manpower and transmigration, denied of receiving bribe and claimed that he did not know anything about bribe, known as commitment fee, in the Regional Infrastructure Development Acceleration (PPID) program at his ministry.

Muhaimin, who is also chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), said that in his testimony as witness for Dadong Irbarelawan, the bribe defendant, in the Jakarta Corruption Court, today (Feb 20). Muhaimin claimed that he was aware of the program after the case broke out in Agusut 2011.

According to muhaimin, Danny Nawawi has used his name, and underlined that he did not know about the person.

In the previous trial, the court played a voice record of Danny Nawawi and Syamsu Alam, president director of PT Alam Jaya Papua. The recorded conversation mentioned Muhaimin Iskandar's name, when Danny claimed that he had reported about the commitment fee to the minister.

Muhaimin also insisted that he has never received Rp1.5 billion for holiday allowances from Dhanarwati, businesswomen and bribe convict.

In the trial, State Prosecutor mentioned in the indictment letter that Muhaimin Iskandar, Minister of Manpower and Transmigration, received Rp2 billion grafts from Dhanarwati, suspect in the bribery case at the ministry's project.

“(Graft money was given to) Muhaimin Iskandar as Ministry of manpower and Transmigration, Jamaluddien Malik, I Nyoman Suisnaya and Dadong Irbarelawan," said Prosecutor Dwi Aries Sudarto before the court. Jakarta Corruption Court has earlier sentenced 2.5 years imprisonment for Dhanarwati, bribe defendant of PPID program at the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry.

The case broke out after KPK arrested Dhanarwati, I Nyoman Suisnaya and Dadong in August 2011 and seized Rp1.5 billion kickback funds allegedly related to the Rp500 billion project at the ministry. Dhanarwati insisted that the money will be borrowed by Minister Muhaimin for holiday allowances. (indra@theindonesiatoday.com)
