Theindonesiatoday.com - JAKARTA Metropolitan Police has named two former directors of state-owned credit insurance company PT Askrindo corruption and money laundering suspects.

 

 

Baharuddin Djafar, head of public relations of Jakarta Metropolitan Office, said that Zulfan Lubis (former president director of Askrindo) and SR (former finance director) have been detained Friday (Aug 19).

Police has also seized Rp5 billion cash from one of investment management firm. Ajie Indra, head of corruption division at Jakarta Metro Police, said police has blocked 24 suspicious accounts related to Askrindo's investment, but no funds left there.

Police investigates an allegedly embezzled funds of Rp500 billion. Police has examined five brokerage and investment firms in the case. They are PT Harvestindo Asset Management, PT Reliance Asset Management, PT Jakarta Investment, PT Jakarta Securities, and PT Batavia Securities.

Askrindo is assigned by the State as guarantor of people's business credit (KUR). The company had reportedly entered into repurchase order agreements in the period of 2006, 2007, and 2009. Other parties in the agreements were Reliance Securities, Perusahaan Gas Negara, and Bank Mandiri. (indra@theindonesiatoday.com)
