Lotte Duty Free Shop, Open in Indonesia Next Week

JAKARTA, Indonesia Today - South Korean Lotte Group plans to open its first duty free shop in Indonesia next week.

The first shop will be opened at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Tuesday, January 31. The shop is part of the group's worldwide expansion. Lotte is one of the largest operators of duty free shop worldwide.

Lotte Mart, meanwhile, is targeting to add new 100 stores for Indonesia in 2018 as part of its global expansion, particularly in Asia. Presently, the company operates 24 stores in Indonesia.

In 2012, Lotte targets Indonesian retail sales to boost 128% to US$32 million compared to US$14 million of the present year’s target.

Apart of Indonesian operation, Lotte’s Director Kim Young Goon told Bisnis Indonesia that the company has total 85 stores in China, two stores in Vietnam, and 99 stores in Korea. Up until end of this year, the company predicts to operate 223 stores globally.

Lotte plans to open 700 stores in four countries and targets US$25 billion of sales revenue by 2018. Those countries are Chine (500 stores), Indonesia (100 stores), India (70 stores), and Vietnam (30 stores).

In South Korea, Lotte intends to open more stores to reach 300 stores by 2018 with US$7 billion revenues. (bintang@theindonesiatoday.com)
