Theindonesiatoday.com - Thoresen Thai Agencies Plc expects to mine more than one million tons of coal per annum from its Indonesian mines in the next few years.
CEO M.L. Chandchutha Chandratat told Bangkok Post recently that its mines, which located in Central Kalimantan, are currently in the final phase of exploration work and requires up to 18 months of construction to develop a mine site post exploration.
“Unique Mining Services currently imports about 1.2 million tonnes of coal, but we believe it can manage up to 4 million tonnes per year without any additional investment,” the executive added.
The company, through its Singaporean subsidiary Qing Mei Pte Ltd, had expected to complete the activities by October 2011, but it seems it has been postponed due to several reasons.
Based in Thailand, Thoresen is a strategic investment holding company with three primary business groups – Transport, Energy, and Infrastructure. The company have provided shipping-related services since 1904, dry-bulk shipping services since 1985, and offshore oil and gas services since 1995.
