Theindonesiatoday.com - US retail giant Wal-Mart plans to invest again in Indonesia after doing market observation recently, Bisnis.com reported this morning.
Wal-Mart had opened its store in Karawaci Supermal in 1990, in cooperation with PT Multipolar Corporation Tbk, but then closed as the store gave no benefit.
Gita Wirjawan, Trade Minister, confirms that Wal-Mart is now exploring retail market in Indonesia and wants to invest.
Benjamin J Mailool, chairman of Indonesian Retail Businessmen Association (Aprindo), earlier said Wal-Mart and Tesco have included Indonesia into their investment radar for expansion.
He said Wal-Mart and Tesco will enter into Indonesia through the merger scheme. (hans@theindonesiatoday.com)
