Theindonesiatoday.com - The country's largest cement maker PT Semen Gresik Tbk (SMGR) extends the completion of the construction for its new cement mill in Sulawesi due to weather factor and lack of workers.

Sunardi Prionomurti, SMGR's corporate secretary, said in a disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) today that based on the identification on the progress of the project, the completion of Sulawesi's cement mill construction will delay until the second quarter of 2012.

As directed by shareholders at general meeting held in December 10, 2007, the construction of new cement mill in Sulawesi was set for 2008 until 2011.

While new cement mill in Java island must be constructed in 2008-2012 period. However, Sunardi said, the construction of cement mill in Java will be completed by this year end.

Semen Gresik said two cement mills will have production installed capacity of 2x2.5 million tons per year with total investment of US$670 million. (hans@theindonesiatoday.com)
