Theindonesiatoday.com - Baltic Dry Index, gauge for worldwide shipment of bulk dry commodities, gained 3.3% for the week ended March 25 after a minor correction in the previous week.
Baltic Dry Index (BDI) ended higher by 3.3% to 1,583. The current level is way below 8,000 during the commodities bubble in 2007-2008. Baltic Chemical Index also gained 5.6% to 1789 after last week's substantial correction.
Most metals traded in London Metals Exchange (LME) ended the week with substantial gains led by tin (+7.9% to US$31,625 per ton) and nickel (+4.6% to US$27,145 per ton). Aluminium and silver also gained 4.9% and 5.8% respectively, while copper advanced 2.7% to US$9696 per ton.
Liquids were also gainers. Nymex crude gained 4.3% to US$105.4 per barrel, while Brent advanced 1.3% to US$115.83 per barrel. CPO futures, meanwhile, dropped 5.4% to RMB3261 per ton. (teguh@theindonesiatoday.com)
