Theindonesiatoday.com - Palm oil producer PT Astra Agro Lestari (AALI) Tbk plans to build port in Seragian Singkil, North Aceh, with Rp70 billion investment.
Media Indonesia quoted Gunawan Lubis, director of Andalas I Area, saying the port will replace the existing port, which was damaged by earthquake in Singkil few years back.
Gunawan, which supervises AALI's operation in Sumatra and Central Kalimantan, said investment cost might be bigger than Rp70 billion. The port will boost efficiency and transportation of PT Perkebunan Lembah Bhakti in Singkil and the surrounding areas.
Astra Agro, subsidiary of Astra International, produced 1.268 million tons of crude palm oil (CPO) last year, increased 13.9% from the previous year.
The increase was in line with 13.3% growth in FFB production from 4.2 million tons in 2010 to 4.8 million tons last year, while extraction rate declined slightly by 0.36% to 22.58%. Palm Kernel Oil (PKO) output also increased 12.5% to 269,299 tons last year.
FFB production from Sumatra operations increased 19.3% last year, while Sulawesi grew 15.4%. Kalimantan operations, meanwhile, only rose 5.7%.
The processed FFBs from plasma plantation surged 35.6% to 1.22 million tons last year, while nucleus plantation only grew 7.5% to 3.49 million tons. The processed FFBs supplied by third parties increased substantially by 28% last year. (Indonesia Today)
