Theindonesiatoday.com - State-owned enterprises minister Dahlan Iskan has decided to merge two state-owned engineering firms PT Barata and PT Boma Bisma Indra.
"Barata will acquire Boma Bisma Indra first, because they are in the same business," said Dahlan as quoted by Detikfinance Saturday (Jan 14) after a meeting with leaders of some SOEs in Madiun, East Java.
The consolidation will be implemented immediately. The new entity will later on be merged with state-owned train manufacturing PT INKA, probably in three years time. "We can't do that (merger with INKA) now, because INKA is already way ahead of them (Barata and Boma Bisma)," Dahlan argued.
PT Barata is engaged in EPC for port handling, sugar plant, CPO mill, power plant, and foundry for rolling stocks, cement industry, etc. PT Boma Bisma Indra, meanwhile, has three main businesses: project management, industrial plant equipment, and industrial general services. (Indonesia Today)
