Pharmaceutical giant PT Kalbe Farma (KLBF) Tbk posted net profit of Rp572.34 billion in the first half of 2010, surged 43.7% from the same period last year on improved margins.
Kalbe recorded sales revenue of Rp4.7 trillion in the first half of 2010 or a 11.6% growth from the same period last year. Cost of goods sold, meanwhile, increased only by 8.2%. As a result, Kalbe booked gross profit of Rp2.38 trillion, increased 15.2% from the same period last year.
Kalbe's operating expenses also increased 12.7%, but the company managed to book operating profit of Rp838.2 billion or a 20% growth from H1/09.
Lower financial charges and loss in foreign exchange translation also contributed to the 43.7% growth of net profit.
Kalbe currently has market capitalization of Rp24.75 trillion or 5.3 x equity. The stock gained 90.4% year-to-date and closed at Rp2475 last Friday (July 23).
