Theindonesiatoday.com - Nissan Motor Co Ltd sold 356,107 cars globally in February 2011, increased 21 percent from the same month last year, making an all-time record for the month of February.

Sales outside of Japan increased 28.2% year-on-year to 295,732 units, marking an all-time record for the month of February. Sales in the U.S. increased 31.6% year-on-year to 92,370 units, due to increased demand for Rogue, Sentra and Altima. 

In Europe, sales increased 53.5% year-on-year to 53,781 units, due to increased demand for the new Juke launched in October, 2010 and Qashqai. 

In China, sales saw an increase of 18.0% year-on-year to 68,823 units, due to increased demand for the new Sunny launched in January and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for the month of February. 

Sales in other regions increased 23.0% year-on-year to 59,091 units, mainly due to increased demand in Thailand, Indonesia and India, where the new March/Micra was launched.

In relation to production post earthquake, Nissan said production of vehicles will be partially resumed, "as the delivery of parts will take some time to be fully reestablished." 

As for the Iwaki engine plant, aftershocks are still heavily impacting the region, but Nissan said that as infrastructure such as electricity and water are gradually being reestablished, restoration of the facility is accelerating. (Theindonesiatoday.com)
