Daihatsu Motor Corporation plans to boost further its car assembling facility in Indonesia to 350,000 units per annum, Bisnis.com reported.
Indonesia is currently the largest production base for Daihatsu outside Japan. PT Astra Daihatsu Motor, a JV between Daihatsu and PT Astra International Tbk, currently expands the facility in Sunter, JAKARTA from 211,000 units to 280,000 units per annum.
Masanoru Mitsui, executive vice president of DMC, said Daihatsu Indonesia contributes to 40% of total sales outside Japan. Daihatsu sold 1 million of cars globally last year. "We have a target to expand Indonesian facility to 350,000 units per annum, but I can't tell when that would be done," Mitsui said.
