Theindonesiatoday.com - National motorcycles sales totaled 736,187 units in July 2011, grew 4.95% compared to 701,432 units in July 2010, according to data from Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI). January-July sales totaled 4.81 million units.
PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) dominated the market, selling 363,238 units, followed by PT Yamaha Kencana Motor Indonesia (YKMI) (312,506 units), and PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) (50,667 units). This three brand holders hold 98.48% market share. Other brands are Kawasaki, TVS and Kanzen.
"The sales of all brands increased ahead of of the holy month of Ramadan, or Lebaran, with some brands grew by up to 15-20%," said Yohannes Loman, AHM's executive vice president.
For January-July period, Honda's sales totaled 2.46 million units, Yamaha (1.97 million units) and Suzuki (306,387 units). (hans@theindonesiatoday.com)
