Theindonesiatoday.com - PT Bakrie Telecom (BTEL) Tbk reported net profit of Rp9.98 billion last year, tumbled 90% from Rp98.44 billion in 2009 on higher financial charges and squeezed margin.
Bakrie Telecom reported flat growth of revenues to Rp2.765 trillion against Rp2.74 trillion in 2009. Its operating expenses, meanwhile, increased to Rp2.57 trillion from Rp2.46 trillion in 2009. As a result, BTEL's operating profit slashed 31.5% to Rp190 billion.
Financial charges surged to Rp475 billion. But BTEL's bottom line was helped by higher gains in forex translation of Rp127 billion and other income of Rp204 billion.
BTEL then posted net profit of Rp9.98 billion or an earning per share of Rp0.35. The stock gained 1.43% to Rp355 this morning. That price reflected PE multiple 1,014 on 2010 earnings. At Rp355, BTEL currently has market capitalization of Rp10.1 trillion or about US$1.16 billion, twice its equity of Rp5.19 trillion as at Dec 31, 2010. (teguh@theindonesiatoday.com)
