Composite index of Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) closed lower by 1.28% on Friday, August 27 due to correction on most blue chip stocks.

Astra and Telkom dropped 1.86% and 2.78% respectively, while BCA and Mandiri declined 0.84% and 1.67%. The only top 10 stocks in positive territory is Unilever, which inched up 0.3%. Astra Agro Lestari and United Tractors, both are subsidiaries of Astra International, closed lower by 1.72% and 1.33% respectively.

PGN lost 0.56%, while Adaro Energy conceded 1.73%. Bumi Resources slashed 5.06%, while Bukit Asam and Indo Tambangraya declined 0.56% and 0.13%, prevented mainly by over 3% gain in thermal coal spot prices in Newcastle port, Australia for the week ended August 27.

Indocement retreated 2.93% on profit taking after Thursday's substantial gain, while BRI lost 2.58%. Second-liners Kalbe Farma and Medco Energi dropped 2.11% and 3.17%.

Other markets in the region closed mixed with Bombay's Sensex lost 1.25%, while Nikkei 225 gained 0.95%. Australia's All Ordinaries declined 0.33%, while Hang Seng and KOSPI down slightly by 0.07% and 0.01% respectively.

European markets closed mainly in higher grounds, while Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) opened substantially higher by 1% midday in New York. Nasdaq and S&P 500 also gained 0.76% and 0.87% respectively.
