Oil and gas company PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (ENRG), a member of Bakrie Group, on Monday denied a media report that the company was facing legal suit by a fund management firm in the U.K. over disputes on debts worth US$131 million.
On Monday, Kontan reported that there were rumors that a number of foreign investors were challenging Energi Mega’s rights issue. One fund management firm in the U.K. was even reportedly to have filed lawsuit in relation to Energi Mega’s debts.
“We wish to clarify that up until now, the company has honored all its obligations in accordance with agreed terms and period,” Energi Mega said in a filing to the Indonesian Stock Exchange. “Recently, the company used proceeds of the rights issue to repay portion of its debts, arranged by Credit Suisse, which resulted in reduction of the company’s debts to US$200 million at end of first quarter from US$450 million previously.”
“Therefore, the report published by Kontan daily is not accurate,” it said, noted that the company has no debts worth US$131 million as reported.
