Consumer products giant PT Unilever Indonesia (UNVR) Tbk has closed the gap with Bank Central Asia (BBCA) in terms of market capitalization. The gap is now Rp1 trillion only.
As of Friday, June 25, Unilever has market capitalization of Rp140.8 trillion or about US$15.5 billion, while BCA is at Rp141.8 trillion. Unilever has gained 67% year-to-date, while BCA increased 18.6% only.
Unilever is currently traded 30.1 x equity, the highest in Top 20 stocks listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). BCA, meanwhile, is traded 4.8 x equity as at March 31, 2010. Unilever reported return on equity (ROE) of 65.1% last year, while BCA was about 22.8%.
Unilever is second best performer in Top 20 this year, behind cigarette giant HM Sampoerna, which gained 81.7% so far this year. Gudang Garam, the second largest cigarette producer, is third with 53.4% gain. Astra International, the largest company on IDX with market capitalization of Rp195.9 trillion, is fourth with 39.5% gain.
The Top Loser in Top 20 is Bumi Resources with 22.1% drop this year, followed by PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TLKM) Tbk with 15.9% correction.
