For the whole year of 2011, the IDX gained 3.2%, the second best performer among Asian stock markets, after Philippine with 4.07% gain.
While others experienced the loses, led by Nikkei and Hang Seng with 34% and 20% corrections. SINGAPORE's Straits Times lost 16.21%, Korea's KOSPI fell 10.98%, Bombay's Sensex dropped 24.21% and Shanghai declined 7.74%.
The IDX's market capitalization increased 8.54% to Rp3,524.48 trillion as of December 29, 2011 , compared to Rp3,247.1 trillion last year, with total transaction reaching Rp1,220.67 trillion, grew 3.78% from Rp1,176.24 trillion in 2010. The daily average transaction also rose to Rp4.95 trillion from Rp4.8 trillion last year.
Net inflow of foreign capital totaled Rp24.29 trillion, including today's transaction, compared to Rp20.98 trillion in 2010.
Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo closed the stock trading for the year. The IDX will open trading in January 2, 2012. (ferdi@theindonesiatoday.com)
