Theindonesiatoday.com - PT Multi Bintang Indonesia Tbk (MLBI) helped boost profit before tax of Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd (APB) in South East Asia in the first nine months ended June 2011.
Excluding results from October 2010 to January 2011, APB’s profit before tax only grew 4%, driven by higher volumes in SINGAPORE, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka as well as improved margins in Indonesia.
APB records 34% jump on its nine-months net profit to S$377.75 million in line with 19.8% rose on its revenues and 24.5% jump on its operating profit.
“Rising inflation in our main markets compounded by the recent global economic uncertainties may dampen consumer demand. Strengthening of the Singapore Dollar against regional currencies, particularly the Vietnamese Dong, will continue to adversely affect the reported financial results of the Group,” the company said on its financial report.
In Indonesia, APB owns 68.5% stake in MLBI, acquired back in February 2010.
Asia Pacific Breweries Limited (APBL) has a portfolio of over 40 beer brands and brand variants, including its world-class Tiger and Heineken beers. Tiger beer has become a Singapore icon with international standing. (bintang@theindonesiatoday.com)
