Theindonesiatoday.com - After being pressured lower than 4,150 points in the afternoon session, composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended down 0.37% at 4,177.85 helped by late buying.
Regional market closed in red on concern over the global economic outlook. KOSPI slashed 2.35%, All Ordinaries dropped 1.37%, Straits Asia fell 1.25%, Nikkei down 1.21%, Hang Seng lost 1.07%, and SSE dropped 0.91%.
Losers of the day were United Tractors (-3.81%), Bank BNI (-3.28%), PT Timah (-2.02%), PT INCO (-1.75%), Astra Agro (-1.28%), and Adaro Energy (-0.93%).
Among blue chips, Astra International down 0.63% and Bank Mandiri dropped 1.86%. Meanwhile, Bank BCA and Telkom jumped 2.34% and 1.33% respectively, followed by Bank BRI by advancing 0.69%.
Among second liners, PT Polychem Indonesia and PT Star Petrochem soared 15.87% and 14.01% respectively.
Trading was pretty heavy with around 8.5 billion shares valued at Rp6.57 trillion exchanging hands.
Rupiah stood stronger at Rp8.460 per share. Crude oil priced even lower in the afternoon to US$94 per barrel for Asian market. (bintang@theindonesiatoday.com)
