Theindonesiatoday.com - After plummeted up to 2% post the lunch break, composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended down 1.42% to 3,740.47 as late buying in certain stocks helped narrowing the index's fall.

Asian markets also crashed today. All Ordinaries and KOSPI tumbled 1.92% both, Hang Seng fell 1.75%, Nikkei conceded 1.70%, SSE shed 1.52%, and Straits Times dropped 1.12%.

In JAKARTA bourse, top stocks closed mainly in red. Astra International dropped 1.44%, Bank BCA declined 0.70%, Bank Mandiri down 1.67%, Bank BRI fell 3.91%, and PT Telkom shed 2.07%.

In mining, Dian Swastatika Sentosa tumbled 7.50%, Darma Henwa conceded 3.81%, Benakat Petroleum and Elnusa fell 3.57% both, Indo Tambangraya Megah retreated 2.16%, Adaro Energy lost 2.08%, and PT Timah decreased 2.00%. Bumi Resources became most traded stocks today and ended 3.82% lower.

For plantations, Sinar Mas Agro and Bakrie Sumatera International retreated 4.32% and 3.45% respectively, Astra Agro down 1.52%, Gozco Plantation declined 1.32%, and PP London Sumatera slipped 1.05%.

Among second liners, Berlian Laju Tanker sank 7.35% after its Q1 loss widens.

Trade was moderate with some 5.29 billion shares worth Rp4.24 trillion changing hands. Decliners led advancers 234 to 33, with 50 stocks unchanged. Foreign investors booked net selling of Rp166.31 billion.

Bank Indonesia said Rupiah traded weaker to Rp8,584 per US dollar. Meanwhile, crude oil hovers at level US$95 per barrel for Asian trading. (bintang@theindonesiatoday.com)
