IDX Ends Down 1.03%, Commodity Stocks Lead

Theindonesiatoday.com - Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended lower by 1.03% 3,748.76 with the falls in regional markets undermining sentiment in local bourse.

Nikkei lost 0.7%, KLSE down 0.66%, Straits Times declined 0.53%, and SSE and BSE Sensex closed marginally lower. Meanwhile, Hang Seng and Kospi regained 0.39% and 0.1%.

In mining, Ratu Prabu Energi crashed 8.62%, Perdana Karya Perkasa slashed 4.82%, Energi Mega Persada fell 3.41%, Bumi Resources shed 2.92%, Harum Energy lost 2.63%, PT Timah declined 1.96%, and PT Inco lost 1.61%.

For plantation, Sinar Mas Agro fell 4.29%, Tunas Baru Lampung dropped 3.51%, BW Plantation lost 1.63%, Bakrie Sumatra Plantation declined 1.09%, and Astra Agro Lestari slipped 0.44%.

Among blue chip stocks, Astra International dropped 1.83%, Bank Mandiri down 1.43%, and Bank BRI declined 0.79%. Bank BCA and PT Telkom, meanwhile, closed flat.

Colorpak Indonesia rocketed 11.20% and Japfa Comfeed gained 4.05% with no reports, Prima Alloy Steel Universal surged 7.87%, and become the most active stock traded today, after a new investor reported to inject fresh fund for corporate expansion.

Trade was moderate with some 5.82 billion shares worth Rp3.94 trillion changing hands. Decliners led gainers 211 to 37, with 75 stocks unchanged. Foreign investors booked net selling of Rp55.01 billion.

Rupiah traded weaker to Rp8,531 per US Dollar. Crude oil also priced lower at US$98.5 per barrel. (bintang@theindonesiatoday.com)
