LONDON, Indonesia Today - Xstrata Plc opened lower 2.26% in London Tuesday (Feb 7) despite the US$90 billion merger with Glencore International.
Glencore International shares gained 1.8% in London, but down 1.14% in Hong Kong Tuesday.
Xstrata shares drop 2.26% to 1232 pence, way below the agreed merger price of 1290 pence (valuing Xstrata about US$61.9 billion), represents a premium of 15.2% to Xstrata's closing price as at February 1st, 2012.
For the 12 months ended 31 December 2011, Glencore generated revenues of $186.2 billion and adjusted EBITDA (before exceptional items) of $6.5 billion. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2011, Xstrata generated revenues of $33.9 billion and EBITDA (before exceptional items) of $11.7 billion.
The merger creates a major natural resources group with a combined equity market value of $90 billion and a unique business model, fully integrated along the commodities value chain, from mining and processing, storage, freight and logistics, to marketing and sales. (Indonesia Today)
