Theindonesiatoday.com- PT Berau Coal Energy (BRAU) Tbk, a subsidiary of Bumi Plc, booked net profit of US$132.45 million in nine months of 2011, tripled from US$44.9 million in the same period last year on higher sales volume and prices.
The company's revenue soared 58% in nine months to US$1.2 billion, while operating profit jumped 85% to US$414 million.
Coal sales volume increased 20% in Q311, while average selling price surged 41% to US$87 per ton compared to the same quarter of 2011.
Bumi Plc told London Stock Exchange (LSE) Thursday (Nov 17) that Berau's year to date production was 14.3 million tonnes and is expected to meet the 20 million tons target for 2011.
Berau Coal shares closed flat at Rp415 in JAKARTA Thursday, while Bumi Plc once dropped 3.3%, but then cut its losses to 1.63% in the afternoon session. BRAU is now 30% below its peak, while Bumi Plc is 38% below its peak.(Theindonesiatoday.com)
