Theindonesiatoday.com - PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk (BTPN) predicts its loan disbursement to micro sector to grow 50-75% to Rp6-7 trillion this year, compared to Rp4 trillion in 2010.
Ongki Wanadjati Dana, BTPN's president director, said the bank will use rights issue proceeds to boost micro lending such as agriculture sector. "Micro lending to trade sector is already big so now we targets other micro sectors," he said, noting micro lending accounted for 25% of total lending in 2010.
BTPN had last year raised Rp1.3 trillion from rights issue. Texas Pacific Group (TPG) Group, the main shareholder of BTPN, is said to have cut its ownership in the bank to 60% from previous 70%.
"TPG Group aims to make public shares more liquid by cutting its ownership and expects to obtain tax incentive by increasing public ownership," Ongki said.
Currently public investors holds 27.53% BTPN shares. (hans@theindonesiatoday.com)
