Theindonesiatoday.com - Texas Pacific Group (TPG), the major shareholder of PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional (BTPN) Tbk with 71.61% ownership, intends to increase the public's ownership in the bank, Bisnis Indonesia reported this morning.
Jerry Ng, BTPN's president director, said the management had proposed to increase public stake in the bank to the main shareholders.
"If public investors hold 40% shares of BTPN and each of them does not own more than 5%, the bank will get tax incentive of 5%," he said.
He also said the shareholders had on Thursday approved the bank's rights issue plan. BTPN has priced its rights issue at Rp7,000 per share, to raise proceeds of Rp1.3 trillion. Proceeds from the rights issue will be used to strengthen its capital and support expansion programs.
BTPN also plans to raise bonds worth Rp750 billion for funding the loan expansion. (hans@theindonesiatoday.com)
